COVID-19 RESPONSE

Dear On Lok 30th Street Senior Center Community,


Effective March 6th, a week before the COVID-19 shelter-in-place went into effect,
On Lok 30th Street Senior Center began increasing safety protocols to ensure that our staff and seniors were safe and healthy.  All large group activities were suspended. An On Lok Day Services COVID-19 Incident command group of leaders assembled to assess essential objectives, daily workflows, and take action to ensure that safety and health protocols are in place to continue providing operations.


The senior center remains open to provide essential services as recognized by the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS).


Our team is highly committed and invested in our mission “To relentlessly pursue quality of life and quality of care for older adults and their families.”  With an unwavering commitment to our seniors who access our various programs, our team has adapted the following response.


Our COVID-19 Response includes:

  1. Mission Nutrition:
    1. Congregate Meals:
      1. Replacing with “take out” lunch pick up from 9:30am-1:30pm Monday-Saturday at the senior center
      2. Following proper social distancing practices
    2. Home Delivered Meals:
      1. Continuing service to our clients and increasing number of deliveries to meet the growing need in the community
      2. Using proper PPE and practicing social distancing protocols
      3. Employing extra protocols around regular daily cleaning and disinfecting of work areas and delivery vehicles
      4. Following social distancing practices on and off site
  1. Case Management:
    1. Adjusted services by providing clinical care and supervision remotely and only doing home visits deemed essential for the safety and well-being of clients
  1. ADRC (Aging and Disability Resource Center):
    1. Conducting wellness calls to seniors to check on their well-being, food security and access to other citywide services while reminding them to follow shelter-in-place mandates
  1. Virtual Programming:
    1. Offering Always Active and Nutrition Education program pilots as virtual sessions
  1. Partnerships:
    1. Working closely with our community partners in fighting social isolation: Covia Well Connected Español/English programming, Community Living Campaign, Community Music Center, and Computer Tech Network
    2. Referring seniors in need to the CERV program to obtain support services during the COVID-19 pandemic (Emergency response volunteer program led by Shanti Project at 415-674-4701)
