The primary goal of 30th Street Senior Center is to help seniors remain healthy, independent and in their communities for as long as possible. Each program plays an important role in carrying out this mission.
30th Street Senior Center’s main site serves an average age of 78 years and are Latino (67%), Caucasian (19%), Asian (10%) and African American (1%). More than half (55%) have incomes of less than $12,000 per year. Our participants are generally seniors who are healthy and live an independent lifestyle.
We serve seniors beyond the 30th Street Senior Center through our satellite programs as well.
The Center’s most important service is bringing people together to socialize and reduce isolation. Seniors regularly tell staff that the Center is “my therapy”, “the reason I get up every morning”, “my second home”, and that it gives them “opportunities to be with friends and make new friends.”
